The Inspiration:

At the age of 35, David J. Kinman was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer. During the initial surgery, the Kinman family learned the cancer had spread to his liver. Further operation on the liver was not an option. During this time, David and his wife Braedi were expecting their first child. Given only 9 months to live, he beat the odds and survived 2 years. Long enough to see the birth of his son, Cole. In spite of fighting with every ounce of his soul, David lost his battle to cancer on July 10, 2007. He was just 37. Throughout his battle David showed strength, dignity, and determination, and still provides inspiration to many today.
Early Detection is the Key!!

Early detection made all the difference for another David. 38-year-old David J. McCluskey made a visit to his doctor in 2007 shortly after noticing things weren’t “quite right.” Within 6 weeks of visiting his family physician, David underwent a colonoscopy. That decision saved his life. Collaborating with doctors and aggressively treating his colorectal cancer, David is now cancer free.
Who are We?
On July 12th, 2007, Davids Fight.org was founded in memory of David Kinman. Davids Fight is a non-profit tax exempt charitable foundation created to fight colorectal cancer, 501(c)(3) Tax ID: 32-0222029. Our mission is to build colorectal cancer awareness within our communities through public, physician, and patient education, utilizing a variety of different programs, activities and resources. Our goal is to provide the resources for those in need of our assistance.
Where Does the Money Go?
Colonoscopies: Davids Fight has helped provide over 75 colonoscopies to uninsured and underinsured Iowans.
Snow Angels: 2013-14 marked the third season for our Snow Angels program, which provides snow removal for Iowans undergoing Oxaliplatin chemotherapy treatments. To date, we have helped over 100 Iowa families fight off winter, during the fight of their lives.
Building awareness for colorectal cancer: 2014 marks our 5th Get Your Rear in Gear, and the second Bottoms Up Blues Bash. These are the marquee events in Iowa for colorectal cancer awareness, providing a much needed voice for those affected by colorectal cancer. We are committed to defeating colorectal cancer, and we could not accomplish these goals, without your support.
